Loreto Eastern Africa Newsletter, April 2021

Our collective excitement to get back to the lives we knew before the Covid-19 pandemic has been intruded by the third wave. The reality is that COVID-19 has cast a shadow that will inevitably spill onto the pages of the 2021 history books as well. While we longed for a fast forward to the end of 2020, the venture into 2021 triggered a certain level of uncertainty and anxiety. However, by God’s grace, we are pulling through and gradually returning to normalcy as well as learning how to live in the ‘new normal’.

Pope Francis in his message for Lent 2021 said; “In these times of trouble, when everything seems fragile and uncertain, it may appear challenging to speak of hope. Yet Lent is precisely the season of hope when we turn back to God who patiently continues to care for his [God’s] creation which we have often mistreated,” (Pope Francis) As we continue celebrating the Eastertide, let us heed the Holy Father’s invitation to “renew our faith, draw from the living waters of hope, and receive with open hearts the love of God.” May the Lord bless us all.
